Using Photoshop: Go to 'Image' menu, then 'Image Size'
Tick the boxes: 'Resample Image', 'Constarin Proportions', 'Scale Styles'
In 'Document Size' - 'Resolution' enter 72 Pixels/inch
Now enter 2000 pixels in 'Width' or 'Height' (whichever is bigger)

| • How do I change the colour space? |
|
In Photoshop go to 'Edit' menu, 'Convert to Profile'.
Check the 'Source Space' - if the profile is Adobe RGB 1998 or sRGB you don't have to do anything.
If you need to change the profile change in 'Destination Space' to sRGB or Adobe RGB 1998
Use 'Adobe (ACE) Engine' and 'Relative Colorimetric Intent'

| • How do I rename my image? |
- Once your image is in the right size and colour space, go to 'file Menu' and click 'Save As'
- Choose where you would like to save the file (possibly on your desktop so you can access it easily when you upload the image)
- Under 'File Name' rename your image according to Head On requirements: Photographer’s surname_photographer’s first name_Subject’s surname_subject’s first name.jpg. (Ex. image of Kevin Rudd taken by John Smith will be named: Smith_John_Rudd_Kevin.jpg)
- Under'Format' choose JPEG
- Under 'Colour', tick ICC profile Adobe RGB 1998 or sRGB (the one you nominated for your file when you were setting the colour space)
- Click 'Save', you will be prompted to choose 'Quality' - set it to 8 and click OK

| • How do I save in Jpeg compression level 8? |

If the people are part of a family, company or another social group, please title the image with the name of the group.

| • I can't seem to view other requirements for submission, for example can I submit an artist statement? |

All you have to submit is an image, there is no need for a statement.
The instructions for how to submit are under ‘Submit’ menu at the top of the page.
Please refer to 'Image Preparation' category in the FAQ for instructions on how to prepare images for submission using Photoshop.

| • The portrait was taken in India and I have lost the name of the subject. Can I still submit the image? |

Yes, you may submit it as long as you have permission of the subject to be exhibited.

| • Are finalist images chosen to exhibit supposed to be brought into the gallery framed? |
|
Final exhibition-prints should not be framed or mounted and should be prepared according to the measurements outlined in the Terms & Conditions.
Prints can be hand delivered by the photographer or courier or sent by post.

• Can I change the title of an image once it has been submitted?
|

You can change the title or replace images before you pay for your entry (entries). Once you have paid, the images are locked and no change can be made.

| • Can I send print image rather than submit an image on the site? |
|
We accept submission only via our website. If the image was shot using film , you will need to scan either the original negative (transparency) or the print and upload the resulting file through our website.

| • can we upload another image after i have completed my submission? |
|
Yes. You need to log in using you name and password and then add up to a total of 3 images.

• I have mistakenly uploaded a file with all the right specs except dpi.
Can I edit the image/reupload without incurring payment again? |
|
Once you have paid for your entry the image gets locked and you cannot change the picture or its title.
However, in this specific case you do not need to worry about the image having been saved with the wrong resolution as long as it was 2000 pixels on the longer side.

| • I have two portraits with the same subject, how do i differentiate between the two when naming the file? |
|
Please add the umber 1 to the first image title, and 2 to the second (smith_john_rudd_kevin1, smith_john_rudd_kevin2)

| • I realised I named my picture incorrectly after I uploaded it, what should I do? |
|
You need to replace or delete the image before you proceed to the payment stage as you will not be able to rename the image once it's paid for.

| • I use Photoshop Elements 4.0, so how do I save to specifications required for submission (eg. RGB 1998)? |

Go to Image > Convert Color Profile; choose either sRGB or Adobe RGB 1998.
Please refer to the program 'Help'.

| • In the T & C it states that portraits can be subbmitted digitally or film but there is no print dimentions. |
|
Images may be submitted only online however the picture can be taken using a digital or film camera.
Unfortunately, there is no option for print submission.

| • Should Black and White images be converted to "Adobe RGB 1998 colour space"? |
|
Yes. This is necessary to ensure all images are properly printed in the catalogue (finalists only) and viewed correctly on our monitors during the selection process.

• Should I save a Black & white image in Gray Gamma 2.2
or in Adobe RGB? |
|
All images should be saved in sRGB or Adobe RGB colour space whether they are in colour or B&W.
