5 shows not to be missed in the last weekend of Head On Photo Festival 2019!

We asked Festival Director Moshe Rosenzveig OAM which 5 shows you had to see & why before the festival sadly finishes on Sunday 19 May.

#5 is ROCK 'N’ ROLL HEROES which contains iconic images of DAVID BOWIE shot by legendary Japanese photographer MASAYOSHI SUKITA. This is the first time this exhibition has been shown in Australia and you can catch it at the Festival Hub in Paddington Town Hall. More details

#4 The Head On Portrait Prize exhibition sponsored by FujiFilm: since starting as a standalone show in 2004 the Head On Portrait Prize has grown into Australia’s pre-eminent photography prize for portraiture. Anyone can enter and all submissions are chosen on their own merits anonymously which has maintained the high standard of work year on year. So, if you like images of people that speak to your soul and that capture a poignant moment in time, this year’s show is no exception. Catch it before it’s too late at the Festival Hub in Paddington Town Hall. More details

#3 The Head On Student Prize exhibition sponsored by Sony Australia demonstrates an experimental approach to the photographic medium. Influenced by trends in social media, digital photography and traditional photographic processes, these images provide us with a dynamic view into the future of contemporary photography. Indeed, one finalist Oscar Lodge is still in primary school so the future is looking very bright. Catch it while you can at Paddington Reservoir Gardens, Paddington until Sunday 19 May. More details

#2 Like last year’s snow by Oded Wagenstein. This exhibition is travel photography at its finest about living in a remote part of the world. Not only are the images breathtaking but at the heart of the exhibition is a human story of ageing and loneliness in the Siberian heartland. Experience it for yourself at Paddington Reservoir Gardens until Sunday 19 May. More details

#1 Photos 1440 Sydney Morning Herald Photographers Group Show. This is the cream of photojournalistic work from the Sydney Morning Herald’s award-winning photographers and outlines events in contemporary Australian life. Quite literally these images have the power to help you form opinions, educate you and trigger a change in the way you think about life in Australia. More details
