06:00 PM Improve your writing for the creative industries with Carla Erdmann, Megan Bentley & Chris Round

An informative session to help you develop your skills and improve your writing in order to better communicate your photography. Learn to effectively communicate about yourself and your work in artist statements, magazines, and more. The panel includes Carla Erdmann who works as a freelance writer, specialising in the field of photography and is a freelance editor of Leica Fotografie International; Megan Bentley who works at Articulate, Australia’s leading communications agency for the arts and cultural sectors and Chris Round who is a landscape photographer, experienced in advertising.

12pm – Workshop; Astrophotography with Jay Evans

In this in-depth presentation, Sony Digital Imaging Advocate Jay will take you through how to make a great nightscape image, as well as how to plan, prepare and shoot astrophotography. He will cover how to locate the Milky Way in the night sky, how to plan for star trails, the equipment he has, the compositions to find, the settings to use. At the end of this session you will be armed with the tools you need to get out and capture your own astro and nightscapes with your camera. Unmissable!

6pm – Workshop; Light painting indoors with Peter Solness

A fantastic introductory workshop for people who would love to explore the magic of light painting. Peter Solness, whose innovative and passionate approach has seen his work receive multiple photography awards, has taught light painting skills to well over 1,000 people and is regarded as a pioneer in the art of light painting,  He will teach you how to apply light in ways that will help you to create some remarkable images.  

If you’re a photobook lover, Peter Solness’s beautiful self-published book “Lamplight” is available for purchase in our online bookstore on our website.

12pm – Alternative facts; falsifying the image in the era of Deep Fakes

If you attended our fascinating session on Wednesday by John Penn II an Adobe software engineer who works with law enforcement using technology and images to solve crimes, you’ll know that this is going to be an extremely topical and interesting discussion.  John joins the panel as they discuss the importance of truth and the falsification of image in the digital era where technology has made it easier to doctor and alter images. Issues such as belief in imagery and Deep Fakes will be explored.

On the panel are Helen Vatsikopoulos (moderator), with David Dare Parker, Anne Kruger, John Penn II, and Dr Gregory Ferris

6pm – Photographic inspiration and passion with Mark Galer

A second session of the popular workshop by Sony Imaging Ambassador Mark Galer. Once again will discuss the importance of capturing photographic narratives and will give you lots of ideas about how you can reinvigorate your photographic interests.  He’ll inspire you with new ideas of previously unconsidered subjects. His talk will be peppered with examples of his work as well as invaluable tips and techniques to help you master the craft of photography.
