The future of photography is uncertain, and the current COVID-19 pandemic only adds to this uncertainty. Join leaders in the field as they discuss changes to media and photojournalism and the editorial, fine art, and commercial markets. The post-corona world will look different for many industries, find out that our panellists predict and how they advise we prepare for this new world of photography. 


Dr Helen Vatsikopoulos is a Walkley Award winning journalist, documentary maker and academic teaching Journalism at the University of Technology Sydney.


Sally Brownbill is one of Australia’s most highly respected and trusted creative intermediaries and has been at the forefront of the Australian creative industry for over 20 years. A much sought-after judge, lecturer and keynote speaker, Sally has developed a professional reputation in Australia and overseas as the authoritative voice on folio construction, career advice and editing images for exhibition and web. By providing career leadership and advice, Sally is always promoting and helping to shape the futures of aspiring and professional photographers and creatives. 

Sue Stephenson is a full-time lecturer and practising multimedia journalist with 35 years experience as a reporter, producer and newsroom leader in regional and metropolitan newsrooms. Her particular strengths are live and breaking news production; media law and ethics; cross-platform news writing; and newsroom innovation.

Simon Harsent’s career has spanned more than 20 years and three continents. Born in England, his photographic career began in London after he finished studying photography at Watford College. In 1987 Harsent moved to Sydney, Australia where he soon established himself as one of the country’s leading commercial photographers working with the top advertisers in Australia and Asia. 1997 saw Harsent move to New York. However, his connection to Australia and Asia did not stop there. He frequently returns to Australia to shoot and is co-founder of POOL collective, a thriving photographers’ collective. Harsent was listed as one of the most influential people in advertising in Australian Creative’s 2011 Power 20 issue.

Michelle Paterson is the founder and director of .M Contemporary - a gallery representing artists in the domestic and international art market. Paterson specialises in nurturing emerging artists from the early days of graduation, through mid-career and into international, professional careers. With a talent for bringing together voices, that resonate with contemporary collectors, Paterson travels extensively to unearth new talent. Her mission is to create a bold, cross cultural conversation within the four walls of her gallery and to inspire people to engage with art across all subjects and mediums.

Once you've registered, you'll receive an email confirmation. The next steps are:

  1. The day before the session, we will send you an email with a hyperlink to join   
  2. Please logon 5 minutes before the scheduled start of the session; we will 'open the door' at the start time
  3. You will be able to listen through your computer speakers and view the presenter(s) and their images on the screen  
  4. You will be able to ask questions through the 'live chat' during the session. We will answer the questions towards the end
