The Spare Rib Storyteller is an exhibition of photographs and mixed media, exploring what it means to be a female in today’s world.

The exhibition is presented in three groups of stories. Each provides an insight into parts of a homogenous story of woman’s ‘theatre of life’, the manifestations of desire, fear, love, loss, wisdom, pain and beauty of which it consists. She, the sensuous, liberated woman is, the Spare Rib Storyteller.

The first chapter explores eternal amorous love. The second, sensory beauty of longing, love and loss, and the third is the struggle of living in a female body, subject to societal objectification throughout the ages.

The Spare Rib Storyteller is an engaging and sensuous story of the evolution of every woman.

Born in Macedonia into a family of artists, Lidia was raised amongst the art books, sculptures and paintings that shaped her life path. She started creating at an early age and has never stopped. Lidia completed a Degree in Art History and Archaeology at the University of Saints Cyril and Methodius, in Skopje, Macedonia.

She has worked as an arts administrator at the Art Gallery of NSW and UNSW Galleries. Over the last three years Lidia has worked intensely on her own artistic practice and expression, seeking to re-evaluate the representation of women in today’s world. In her work she combines multiple mediums with various artistic techniques including painting, sculpture, photography, installation and art performance.
