Do you want to learn new skills?
Do you want to meet new people and network?
We can help you by helping us.
For the last ten years, Head On Photo Festival has showcased local and international photographers across the city— transforming Sydney into a cultural hub for photographic practitioners and enthusiasts. Each year, we present dynamic and free public programming to wide audiences; exhibitions, talks series, workshops, and more.
All of this is only possible because of our amazing team of volunteers. If you would like to get some behind the scenes experience from one of the world’s leading photography festivals, meet interesting people from around the world and make new friends, please let us know.

Installations prior to the festival will be happening the 26th, 27th, 28th and 30th of April, during the festival, if one of the galleries need an exhibition set up and one week after the festival.
This is a hands on job and a great opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes-peek and to meet the exhibiting artists. Some knowledge on how to use basic tools is not a requirement but certainly a bonus.
Do you prefer to be on the chatty side of the festival? Then we can fit you in as a festival host. In this role you will be minding galleries, collect visitor surveys, and forward people in the right direction with any questions they might have.
If you like big crowds, surprises and a party atmosphere, then our Festival Launch (3rd of May) is the place for you. We have a variety of opportunities; if you hold a current RSA we'd love you to help with the bar or deliver drinks to our special guests. If you like chatting to people, we have roles to meet & greet and collect feedback. Do you like working in retail? Our merchandise stand could be your role for the night.
