For the past year photographer Gail Garaughty been taking photographs of trees. Some photographs looks like trees, while other do not.

Gail has been exploring various ways to use the camera to get interesting affects – no filters or APPs or post-production tricks. Only a camera, lens twisting, body spinning (sometimes both at the same time) and a slow shutter speed to showcase the beauty, artistry, strength and fragility of trees in an innovative way.

The look of the image varies depending on the space between the branches, the colour and composition of the leaves, the colour of the sky and the speed of the twist of the lens and/or speed of the body spin.

There are photographs of Australian and Canadian trees in their glorious autumn colours.
