As an aerobatic pilot for the past 20 years, Toddy Kennedy often enjoys the patterns and sights of the landscape from above. The increased affordability of high-quality camera equipped drones has enabled Kennedy to share what he has been seeing all these years. To capture the strong geometric patterns on the earth’s surface Kennedy positioned a drone into a fully vertical point-of-view called top-down. The hunt for the perfect aerial image has driven Kennedy to travel to Western Australia, the eastern Australian seaboard, and large parts of remote New South Wales. This June he will be traveling to central Australia to add to his growing body of work.
A selection of Kennedy’s images have been published in National Geographic, Time, Der Speigel, New York Times, Shutterbug, The Australian, and The Sydney Morning Herald.
