Exhibition Description

Kärlek is an old Swedish word meaning love. When written Kärlek it can be read as love/play.
All my projects are connected by a common approach; something fascinates me to the point where it becomes an obsession.
I often spend several years on a project, exhausting every possibility before I feel finished.
Kärlek is no different, yet another obsession, but these images are done through play, a joyful quest to learn to love more.
As a collection, these images represent my longest lasting and most comprehensive project to date. Presently, with well over a hundred photographs compiled, I still consider Kärlek a work in progress.
Kärlek wasn't perceived as a series from the outset; it became apparent only as I was looking through my archives just a couple of years ago.
As far back as I can remember I have been photographing friends, lovers and fellow humans as a way of getting to know them better, to gain a deeper understanding, to love them more.
The camera allows me to have a conversation without words, to gaze into somebody's mind and soul.
I watch, study and try to capture the beauty I see in a face, body or movement.
Love and beauty.
And flowers.
Like so many others I see beauty in flowers.
I photograph flowers the same way I shoot all living things; by being with them, never arranging, just looking and capturing whatever is projected at that very moment.
Kärlek is about photographing what I love; the essence of my photography.
