Samantha reflects on Sydney’s obsession with real-estate that has cast aside the characters that gave us our holidays. Forgotten and neglected, the land sadly now being of more value. These little houses have tolerated architectural ridicule, sandy slumping mattresses, jugs of cordial in the fridge and sunny boys in the freezer. Three generations, perhaps four have laughed and giggled and knocked over jigsaw puzzles.

But now these are the last dreams, (or nightmares) of the holiday house. Nostalgia drifts in and out, blinding us from the harsh ugliness and utilitarian design of these little (temporary) homes. Yet they all possess a satisfying neatness and form. Resulting in a calming effect.

No one notices houses any more as they are too busy scrutinising the land, the value, the dream. Houses no longer create calmness but chaos. These simple dwellings create a harmonic collection together visually.
