United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) presents a photo story highlighting the challenging and demanding work that the organisation carries out to create a 'safe home' for almost two million internally displaced people in Iraq.
Mine action is concerned with finding and removing leftover explosive hazards to prevent further carnage. UNMAS also advises on how to protect civilians and peacekeeping personnel from the threat of explosive hazards, ensuring that explosive hazards do not become a legacy. UNMAS’s work in Iraq is proudly supported with funding from the Australian Government.
