Amelia
Catherine Cattanach
portrait
After noticing the lovely play of light on a creased photo, I began to explore the idea of photographing, folding and re-photographing. I like that depth can be added to a photograph by drawing attention to the paper’s surface. I felt this portrait of my neighbour’s child Amelia was strong enough to be enhanced rather than diminished by what could otherwise have been a distraction. The ‘frame’ of the folds by no means contains this girl.
