Head On Photo Festival (2017 Festival), Australia’s leading photography festival, is calling for Australian School Students (Applicants) to submit works of photo-art for inclusion in the Head On Student Prize 2017 Exhibition (Student Prize).

Images submitted can be of any subject matter and can be made on any camera or other device using any photographic technique in colour and/or black & white. There is no restriction of when the work was taken or if it has previously been entered into another competition.

A complete list of prizes will be announced shortly.

Only primary and secondary school children who attend schools within Australia will be eligible for this Prize.

The parent or guardian must apply on behalf of the Applicant.

Applicants may submit up to five images.

Images will be judged anonymously based on the power of the photograph rather than the celebrity of the subject or photographer. The selection committee will be looking for work of high technical quality which demonstrate a high level of engagement with the subject/s and invoke a high level of engagement with the viewer.

The selection committee will apply these criteria at its sole discretion and the decisions of the selection committee are final.

The winner and the two runner ups of the Student Prize will have their images exhibited in print at the Museum of Sydney alongside a slideshow of the forty finalists in May 2017 (exact dates TBC) and may tour Australia and internationally.
