Head On hosts David Alan Harvey Master-class

The Head On Photo Festival is proudly presenting Australia’s first David Alan Harvey Master-class at Bondi Pavilion in May.

Harvey – Magnum member, mentor and curator – is making his legendary workshop available to 12-15 talented photographers who are ready to take their work to the next level.

Harvey completed his first photography book at 14 and has since completed over 40 essays for National Geographic. He became a full member of Magnum in 1997.

His workshops (frequently described as life-changing) focus on building authorship, developing talent and making students poets in the language of photography.

Harvey curates Burn, an online journal for emerging photographers, which has expanded to encompass an annual print magazine, $15,000USD emerging photographer grant, uniquely commissioned photographic assignments and globe-trotting exhibitions.

Burn 02, a collection curated from the second print magazine, will show at Bondi Pavilion during Head On in May before moving to Milan.

One Night in Rio, a personal, semi-fictionalised account of one of his favourite cities, will show at the Australian Centre for Photography in May as a highlight of Head On Photo Festival.

Harvey’s Master-class is a rare opportunity to get work in front of a working professional dedicated to helping emerging photographers develop insight, authorship and skill.
