The omnipresence, durability and colourfulness of plastic makes its waste one of the most apparent of human traces. Plastic Drift refers to the buoyant quality of plastic, its fast increase in use and the way it manages to find a path into everything like an unstoppable urge and force. Within decades of the first production of plastic household products, small and large pieces can be found everywhere on earth with a great deal accumulating in the ocean.

The series was captured in Curaçao and Indonesia (2009-2010) by Sarah Engelhard a marine biologist and photographer with a fascination for human presence in nature.
