The images represented in the Head On 2018 Sydney Photo Festival at
Gaffa Gallery are selections from my ongoing personal project titled
“Australian Pictorial”
The project has no rigid plan or set of protocols regarding specific subject
matter and may be valid under the heading of social documentation, but
in reality it’s all just about my love of taking photos and traveling around
the country of my birth to capture the images that I reflect to be uniquely
Australian. Though once again in reality, that statement is not set in
concrete either.
Nothing gives me more pleasure than seeking out the unusual for want of
a better word that shows itself in the everyday random incidents and chance
encounters that seem to ignore logic and run the gamut of all emotions good
and bad and thankfully the just plain wacky.
Or to put it simply….
He wanted to capture moments
that people didn’t notice and
just walked by without thinking….

Other than occasional minor cropping, the original composition of my images
remain more or less true to the moment when I pressed the shutter release.
I use Lightroom CC to develop and store my files and enjoy employing all the
basic digital editing techniques to enhance my images if warranted.
I mention this because I expect my images to tell their own story without too
much embellishment, neither spiritual or physical nor seen or unseen. It’s my
creative visual interpretation of whats going on around us that I want and need to
share with my audience just in case someone may have missed that moment
somewhere along the way, as we are all so prone to do in the everyday of our lives.
